Songs
This page lists some of the songs used in Roobaroo playgroup sessions. Some songs are from the Waldorf community, received by us through the foundation course on Waldorf early childhood teacher training offered by the Indian Waldorf kindergarten association. Some songs and tunes are composed by us. Please respect copyrights for our creations.
This is meant primarily as a resource for parents of preschool-age children. Please read our note on why, when and how to use these songs with your child.
Ganesh-themed songs: All these songs are composed by us.
Ganpati (Hindi hymn, with translation):
गणपति, सहाय करो
मन में हमारे शक्ति भरो
बाधाओं से हम घिरे हैं इस पल
छोटे लगें परबत दो वोह बल
(Translation: O Ganpati, help us. Fill our minds with strength. We are surrounded by obstacles in this moment. Give us the might that makes every mountain appear small and surmountable.)
गणपति, ग्यान देते हो तुम
फिर क्यों न समझते हैं हम
आग जलाकर भी तो देता है सहारा
अँधेरे से ही तो जागे उजियारा
(Translation: O Ganpati, the giver of wisdom. Help us realize that this difficulty is a blessing in disguise. Fire burns anything it touches, and still it is warm and comforting. Remind us that darkness also has a role to play in our lives: it is only through darkness that light can arise.)
O Ganpati (English):
O Ganpati, help us do
As we search for our strength in you
There are obstacles around us, quite a few!
Won’t you make us brave? Won’t you pull us through?
O Ganpati, you’re so wise
So why don’t you make us realize
That this moment is a blessing in disguise
There is darkness before every sunrise
Moonsoon songs: Almost all of these songs are from the Waldorf early childhood education community. The lyrics of "Baarish aayi..." are partially from the Waldorf community, but most of it is self-composed. "In the monsoon garden..." is originally from the Waldorf community but the tune is slightly adapted by us. All lyrics are available from the tracks.
